Kinetics Notes for Chemistry 1 (TAMU CHEM120)
Notes taken on the topic of Kinetics as taught by Dr. Williamson in CHEM 120 at TAMU. These notes contain information about the kinetics of chemical reactions starting with the bases of reaction rate and reaction mechanisms. It describes how to calculate average, instantaneous, and initial rates of reactions and the factors such as surface area, concentration, temperature, and catalysts that affect these reactions. It then describes collision theory, rate law, and the rate constant k and its factors. Next, it explores the integrated rate equations in zero, first, and second-order reactions and their associated graphs. Transition State Theory is then discussed with energy vs reaction graphs explored and the Arrhenius Equation shown and discussed. Finally, it goes further into depth about reaction mechanisms and rate law rules, as well as catalysts.
