Night and Frederick Douglass Oppression Essay
This essay discusses the relationship between oppressors and oppressed in the context of social hierarchies and power imbalances. It draws on two works: Karl Marx's The Communist Manifesto and Elie Wiesel's Night, a memoir of the Holocaust. The essay explores the way in which oppressors use their power to exploit and control those who are less powerful, denying them their basic rights and dignity. Both Marx and Wiesel argue that the oppressed lack the power to overthrow the oppressor on their own, but can gain strength through solidarity and working together. Ultimately, the relationship between oppressor and oppressed is seen as inescapable because it is a fundamental part of the power dynamic between the two.
