1 Steal like an artist
How to look at the world (like an artist)
Question:
Where do you get your ideas? => I steal them
How does an artist look at the world?

2. Move on to the next thing
ð You stop worrying about what’s good and bad à always stuff worth (not) stealing
Nothing is original
Nothing comes from nowhere à all creative work builds on what came before
ð nothing is completely original
ð we can embrace influence instead of running away from it
The genealogy of ideas
Every new idea is just a mashup of one or more previous ideas
Bv. Two parallel lines
à how many lines? 1+1 = 3 (first line & second line + the space in between)
Bv. Genetics
à you are a mashup of what you choose to let into your life
Garbage in, garbage out
= your job is to collect good ideas. The more good ideas you collect, the more you can
choose from to be influenced by.
Artist is a collector, not a boarder

à artists collect selectively = only things that they really love
