, Stage an Event, demonstrating some relevant management skills.(p7)
Introduction- throughout this assignment I will be discussing my event that took place and
what preparation had to take place before carrying out the event. I will also discuss how the
event went and what could be improved for next time in order to maximise the best
potential for my event. There will be documents that will contain the details of my event
that explicitly talk about how it went.
Planning- Planning is one of the most important parts of planning an event because it helps
to assess and see how the event will play out. Planning also helps to maximise profitability
because the people carrying out the event will be able to create objectives and targets,
using plans, to sell as much products as possible. When planning my event, alongside my
group, we thought of two different ideas. The first idea was a sweet shop that would set up
during break, lunch or afterschool that would also customers at Isaac newton academy to
purchase sweets for a price of our choice. We then came up with an idea of a basketball
event that would also students to shoot a basketball. They would have to pay a fee in order
to get three chance to score and to try make all three. If successful a prize would be given as
a reward. Myself and my group thoroughly talked and planned both events before
concluding one event to carry out. The event we chose was the basketball shot contest. We
thought that due to covid, carrying out an event outdoors would be more sufficient and
useful to follow government guidelines. We also thought that selling sweets wouldn’t
maximise the profit that we thought we would get, seeing as another group had the same
idea. Hence, planning is important because we are avoiding clashing an event and came to
the conclusion of an event that was unique and profitable. The planning stage took place
between November to February.
Staging- Staging an event is important because it helps an event flow more effectively and it
helps the event go according to plan. The basketball-based event was stage outside by the
basketball hoops. We had to get our teacher to access another floor of the school, seeing as
we had restricted access due to different year groups being in separate bubbles. Myself and
my group waited outside whilst our teacher got the basketballs and came down to hand
them over. Before getting access to the basketball hoops, we had to wait for the younger
years of the school to clear the area to prevent different bubbles from mixing. We then had
spots and marks on the ground where people would have to shoot from. Furthermore, we
had a blue safe pot where all the money was going to be stored from the event, this would
prevent us from losing the money. We then assigned ourselves roles that we had to carry
out in the event. For example, I would have to show people where the marker was and hand
them the basketballs. Whereas another member of my group would have to collect the
money from customers. This all shows why staging the event is important because we had
to before ready before customers came in order to look as professional as possible.
Therefore, we believed we staged this part of the event very well seeing as we were all set
