 Aviation and Maritime Security Act 1990.
 Counterterrorism and Security Act 2015.
 Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001.
 Local airport regulations and bylaws.
 Company legislations.
 Air Navigation Order 2005.
 Policing and Crime Act 2009.
2.2 Summarise the key features of legislation that relate to
security in the aviation environment.
 Aviation and Maritime Security Act 1990- This is an act to give
effect to the Protocol for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts of
Violence at Airports Serving International Civil Aviation which
supplements the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts
against the Safety of Civil Aviation; to make further provision with
respect to aviation security and civil aviation; to give effect to the
Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against the Safety
of Maritime Navigation.

 Counterterrorism and Security Act 2015- Counterterrorism and
Security Act 2015 is related to terrorism and security in relation to
air, sea and rail. It includes powers to seize travel documents and

 Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001- Department for
transport and the Civil Aviation Authority are the governing bodies
for this law of Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001. The Anti-
terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 is an Act of Parliament of the
United Kingdom, formally introduced into Parliament on 19
November 2001. Many of its measures are not specifically related to
terrorism, and a Parliamentary committee was critical of the swift
timetable for such a long bill including non-emergency measures.
The Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 introduced
provisions, which enable HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to
disclose information for the purposes of assisting criminal
investigations or proceedings whether in the United Kingdom or
abroad, including whether these investigations or proceedings
should be brought to an end.

 Local airport regulations and bylaws- Bylaws are local laws
made by a local council under an enabling power contained in a
public general act or a local act requiring something to be done or
not done in a specified area. They are accompanied by some
sanction or penalty for their non-observance. Bylaws are enforced
by the local authority through the magistrates’ court and
contravening a byelaw can result in a fine upon successful
conviction.

 Air Navigation Order 2005- Policing and Crime Act 2009- The
Policing and Crime Act 2009 is an Act of the Parliament of the
United Kingdom. The Act makes provision about police reform,
prostitutes, sex offenders, sex establishments and certain other
premises. It amends the law on aviation security, alcohol misuse,
proceeds of crime, extradition and gang related violence. The
legislation came about due to several recommendations in
government reports seeking an increase in public accountability.

 Company regulations- Company Regulations help to protect
employees and provide fundamental information on occupational
health and safety and on existing hazards and how to prevent them.
Company Regulations list rules on health protection and accident
prevention, on order on company premises and the conduct of
employees.

2.3 Describe the security procedures and protocols in the airport
