- Primary occurs 1 yr after menarche
- Secondary occurs many years after menarche
- Secondary d/t endometriosis, uterine fibroids, PID
- NSAIDs and/or estrogen/progesterone OCP
- Treat underlying disease if secondary
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding - 🧠 ANSWER ✔✔- Abnormal bleeding NOT
d/t unidentifiable pathology
, - PE normal, bleeding may be prolonged, frequent, heavy, or absent
- Labs & US normal
- Rule out coagulation disorders (Von Willebrand)
- Treat w/ estrogen/progesterone OCPs or IUD
- NSAIDs in adjunct or if OCP is contraindicated
- Hysterectomy if no longer wish to conceive
Bacterial vaginitis - 🧠 ANSWER ✔✔- Gardenella vaginalis
- Thin white/grey discharge
- Fishy smelling
- Wet mount reveals *clue cells*
- Metronidazole or clindamycin
Candida vaginitis - 🧠 ANSWER ✔✔- Candida albicans

- Pruritis and dysuria
- Wet mount reveals *buddy yeast and hyphae*
- Treated w/ fluconazole or nystatin
