UNISA rules regarding online take-home examinations
Students are expected to familiarise themselves with online examination rules prior to their
examination sittings.
Examination sessions commence at the time indicated on the HFL1501 module site. You are
required to adhere strictly to the specified submission times. The following examination rules
apply to your online examinations:
a. Students must upload their answer scripts in a single PDF file (answer scripts must not
be password protected or uploaded as “read only” files).
b. NO e-mailed or late scripts will be accepted.

, c. Students are advised to preview submissions (answer scripts) to ensure legibility and
that the correct answer script file has been uploaded. Please make sure that you submit
the correct file, for the correct module, and in the correct format. A mark of zero (0%)
will be awarded in instances where incorrect files are submitted.
d. Students are permitted to resubmit their answer scripts should their initial submission
be unsatisfactory.
e. Incorrect file format and uncollated answer scripts will not be considered as valid
submissions and a mark of zero (0%) will be awarded.
f. Incorrect answer scripts and/or submissions made on unofficial examination platforms
will not be marked and no opportunity will be granted for resubmission.
g. A mark awarded for an incomplete submission will be the student’s final mark. No
opportunity for resubmission will be granted.
h. A mark awarded for an illegibly scanned submission will be the student’s final mark. No
opportunity for resubmission will be granted.
i. Only the last file uploaded and submitted will be marked.
j. Submissions will only be accepted from registered student accounts.
k. Students must complete the online academic honesty declaration of their work when
submitting. Students suspected of dishonest conduct during the examination will be
subjected to disciplinary processes. Students may not communicate with other students,
or request assistance from other students during examinations. Plagiarism is a violation
of academic integrity, and students who do plagiarise or copy verbatim from published
work will be in violation of the Policy on Academic Integrity and the Student Disciplinary
Code and may be referred to disciplinary hearing. Unisa has a zero tolerance for
plagiarism and/or any other forms of academic dishonesty.
l. Students are provided thirty (30) minutes to submit their answer scripts after the official
examination time. Submissions made after the official examination time will be rejected
by the examination regulations and will not be marked.
m. Non-adherence to the processes for uploading examination responses will not qualify
the student for any special concessions or future assessments.
n. Queries that are beyond Unisa’s control include the following:
(1) Personal network or service provider issues
(2) Loadshedding
(3) Limited space on personal computer
(4) Crashed computer
(5) Using a work computer that blocks access to myUnisa site (work firewall challenges)
(6) Unlicensed software (e.g., license expires during exams)
