The Art Piece that I have chosen is the master piece by Dali Salvador
The presestience of memory also know as the melting clocks and or soft clocks .
It was created in 1931 and was created in New York . This art piece was inspired by
The preseitance of of memory art piece is a Surrealist movement . this movement was evident
to me . This movement sought to unleash the power of the imagination, drawing significant
influence from the theories of Sigmund Freud, especially those concerning the unconscious
mind.
This artwork was inspired by hallucinations following the consumption of Camembert cheese,
utilizing what he termed the "paranoiac-critical method" to deliberately induce hallucinations as
a means to access his subconscious. At the center of the painting, beneath one of the watches,
lies a distorted human face in profile, reminiscent of an image from his earlier work, 'The Great
Masturbator' (1929). The ants on the watch signify decay and also reflect Dalí's well-documented
entomophobia. Some art historians have conjectured that the piece may have been influenced by,
and a reaction to, Albert Einstein's theory of relativity.
, What defines Salvador Dali's art as surrealism is the inclusion of mystery and illusion. His
paintings, particularly how he depicted melting clocks, were created with extraordinary
imagination. The Persistence of Memory, for example, is a quintessential work that introduced
the image of soft melting pocket watches, symbolizing the relativity of space and time.
