, Introduction
At the beginning of this course, my objectives were to refine my clinical or procedural
skills enhancing patient’s safety and further develop interpersonal skills. This paper is intended to
fulfill the clinical competencies and self-assessment form, reassessing and summarizing strengths
and areas for clinical improvement. Simulation in clinical nursing education enables nursing
students to integrate information while practicing skills. Indeed, while theoretical knowledge
provides a solid foundation for understanding nursing concepts, it is the practical application
during clinical experiences that truly enriches learning. It’s often said that the cornerstone of
nursing education lies in these hands-on clinical experiences.
Summary of Results and Accomplished Goals
Engaging with patients in the practicum setting has equipped me with skills in collecting
health histories to formulate patient’s history of present illness and has refined the procedures
clinically with the mentorship of my preceptor. I am confident that I was able to develop these
procedures (alternative drug administration, noninvasive airway/breathing procedure, advanced
circulatory management, trauma assessment/management, and wound management). Ordering and
interpreting diagnostic studies, determining management strategies, prescribing pharmaceutical
therapies and therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals were
the opportunities that I have deeply understood of the clinical skills and procedures that promote
my continuous learning and improvement in my nursing profession.
I have accomplished four goals; enhanced my clinical skills, developed interpersonal skills,
increased my knowledge in my specialized area of interest, and developed my nursing profession.
