including repetition, referencing, the use of pronouns, transitional words and
phrases, and the logical organization of ideas. Because they give readers or
listeners clear cues to assist them traverse the content and understand the
connections between various concepts and aspects within the text, coherent
texts are simpler for people to comprehend and follow.

thoughtful and informed manner.

1.2 Cohesion: Cohesion refers to the linguistic and grammatical devices used in a text
to create a sense of unity, flow, and logical connection between its various parts. It is a
key aspect of effective communication in written and spoken language. Cohesion can
be achieved through various means, such as the use of transitional words and
phrases, pronouns, repetition, reference, and logical sequencing of ideas. Cohesive
texts are easier to understand and follow because they provide clear signposts for
readers or listeners, helping them navigate the content smoothly and comprehend the
relationships between different ideas and elements within the text.
