Migration is mostly selective. Discuss the consequences of such a selection in affecting the impact of migration in receiving economies. Illustrate your argument with examples or one case study
Impacts of Selective Migration to Receiving Economies The impact of selective migration is a phenomenon that has been studied intensively, and one question that arises from this research is, "does migration benefit the economy?". Migration is a feature of economic and social life across many countries, but the migrant population profile fluctuates substantially. The leading cause of selective migration is the rise in skill-focused immigration policies in several industrialized nations. This trend will most likely intensify as wealthy nations age, and competitive pressures build in skill-intensive sectors. This type of migration does have an impact on our societies. Migration can be controversial, and its impact on the receiving economy is no exception. It is important to understand that, although this phenomenon has been studied intensively, ill-informed perceptions could lead to public antagonism towards migration, which risks jeopardizing efforts to adjust selective migration policies to new demographic and economic challenges facing most countries. In this essay, I am going to discuss the significance of selective migration to receiving economies.
