As such, this essay discusses and compares Fuente's, Piccato's, Sigal's, and Forrest and Haour's articles to gain a deeper understanding of historical experiences and how they relate to each other. Fuente's (2010) article falls under several categories: histories of gender and sexuality, social history, and history of race and ethnicity. In this article, she talks about Rachael Pringle Polgreen, a colored woman who was a freed slave. Polgreen was famous in Barbados in the 1770s and 80s due to the contemporary role she played in sexual entertainment since she operated a brothel. 1 She entertained several famous officers, some of which included England's prince, William.
