This document covers the different types of sedimentary rock, their environments of deposition / formation, the processes involved in their generation and how their specific physical features help us to identify what type of environment deposition took place in.

This module covers the different extrusive geophysical methods that can be used to analyse areas for their different physical properties. Each lecture covers a new method and delves into the background, application and processes of that method.

This module covers the processes involved in the formation of a volcanic eruption. It delves into the different types of volcano, eruption and products as well as the different risks associated with eruptions and how humans attempt to mitigate against them.

This module goes through understanding what contaminated land is and how it might become contaminated and then follows on to how land might be remediated (treated) to become useable once more or to a safe background level. Some case studies help in our understanding of why some areas are left contaminated and the importance of remediation.

This document entails the basics needed for mapping in the field. Including how to describe features in the field (micro / macro), structuring a notebook, why we carry out field work and how to graphically log sequences.
