This unit aims to give learners knowledge of the components and systems commonly used
in lubrication systems, transmissions and plant equipment.

You work for a voluntary organisation which has taken on the challenge of establishing an
Engineering training school in a developing country.

The purpose of this school is to train people how to use machinery which will help them to make water pumps,

In this instance, you need to investigate and describe the different types of cam, their purpose and typical
applications of cams and linkage mechanisms. You also need trainees to be able to identify and explain the
function of belt drives, chain drives and gear trains.
