, Assignment B – Teacher Language
a) Presentation
i) Eliciting the Target Language from the Context
T: Hi, everyone. Welcome to class. Are you ready to learn something new and useful today?
S: Yes.
T: Okay let’s start. Look at these pictures on the board. What fun events are you seeing that you’d like
to go?
S1: A music concert
T: Very good! Anything else? What events would you like to go?
S2: a friend’s birthday party
T: Yes! Great. Any more?
S3: New year party.
T: Good. Let’s go with our first picture here – a music concert. What will you do if you want to go to a
music concert?
S: I will ask my parents.
T: Great! What else do you need to get into the concert?
S: If I want to go to concert, I will need a ticket.
T: Excellent. Let’s think.. what else will you need to do before you can go to the concert?
S3: If my parents say yes, I can go to the concert.
T: Well done! What else?
S4: If I get a ride, I can go the concert.
T: Amazing! Now, let’s look at an example. *write on the board “If she gets a ticket, she’ll go to the
music concert.”
Can this happen?
S: Yes!
T: Does it mean that she will definitely go to the music concert?
S: No!
T: That’s correct. However, her getting a ticket and going to the music concert CAN happen and is
likely to happen. Does anyone know what conditional are these examples? *points at board
S: First Conditional.
T: Awesome job! This is called First Conditional. We use the first conditional to talk
about things that CAN happen in the future. It is not going to happen for sure but it is more likely to
happen than not. So, it is possible that she will go to the music concert IF she gets a ticket. She can go
based on this condition - which is called what?
S: First Conditional.
T: Great work! *writes name of TL on board
(I will tell student the answers If I’m unable to get it from them)
