GRAD 695 Approval Form for PMGT 699 Applied Project Description This document is the GRAD 695 Approval Form for PMGT 699 Applied Project from Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, intended for students planning the second portion of their Capstone. It outlines the requirements for the capstone decision and includes the student's research proposal details, particularly focusing on the investigation of the Agile methodology. Key Content Areas: Capstones and Approval: The form ensures students plan for the capstone (GRAD 699 Thesis or PMGT 699 Project) based on interest and criteria. The approval must be completed before Week 6, the formal start of the GRAD 695 research paper. Relationship to Curricular Practical Training (CPT): CPT students are required to complete a section detailing their CPT assignment. Proposed Capstone Research Topic: Topic Title: Investigation of the changes associated with the adoption of the agile methodology. Case Study: The student will select an organization that successfully changed from a traditional PM model (like waterfall methodology) to agile between 2005 and 2019, specifically choosing Nokia to study what constitutes a successful transformation. Objectives: To garner the basics of a successful transformation to agile and highlight the problems faced by PMOs during agile adoption and implementation. The study will also investigate strategies to eradicate these problems. Challenges Identified: Problems in people, management, tools, and processes. Specific issues include poor management planning, inadequate communication (lack of stakeholder engagement), inadequate channels, and lack of proper prioritizing and tools. Contribution: The study will contribute knowledge on the challenges of agile adoption, how they affect organizational goals, and how to overcome them, ultimately helping the student become a better project leader. GRAD 695 Problem Statement: Project Management Officials continually experience challenges while adopting the agile methodology after using a traditional PM approach. The failures lead to a waste of resources, disappointment, demotion of project managers, and harm to the organization's image and project quality. A study investigating the causes of these challenges and failures may help PMOs realize successful agile adoption. PMGT 699 - Project Management Plan Project Option: This option involves identifying a major project and planning it in detail using a Project Management Plan for traditional waterfall methodology. The project is planned but not executed. Requirements include clear scope, definite start/end dates, a 6-12 month execution period, 5-10 resources, and a WBS with around 150 tasks. PMGT 698 - Implemented Project Management Option: This option involves planning and implementing a major project as part of an employment or university initiative, requiring faculty approval and supervision

• An overview of your CPT assignment. Use the journalistic who, what, where, when, why approach here.
My final paper constitutes an investigation of the changes associated with the adoption of the agile

methodology. In this paper, I will select an organization which was initially using a traditional PM model, such as the

waterfall methodology, and eventually changed to agile methodology successfully between 2005 and 2019. In this case, I

choose Nokia and focus my study on what constitutes a successful transformation and adoption of agile project

management. The study will be useful as a basis for organizations and project managers seeking to implement a

successful agile transformation to comply with crucial essentials of change and prerequisite regulations that would help

in realizing the ‘said’ benefits of adopting the agile methodology in project management.

• Highlights of the proposed research and application to the Capstone.
