HED4812
ASSIGNMENT 3
DUE DATE: 4 SEPT 2026

, HED4812 ASSIGNMENT 3 2026

DUE 4 SEPT 2026

QUESTION 1: Moral Responsibility and Accountability in Leadership

Moral responsibility in leadership means that leaders must do what is right and fair.
They should make honest decisions and treat everyone with respect. Accountability
means that leaders must take responsibility for their actions. If they make a mistake or
do something wrong, they must accept the consequences. Leaders have influence over
other people, so they must use their power wisely and ethically. When leaders are
responsible and accountable, they build trust, encourage respect, and create a positive
environment where people feel valued and supported.

Importance of Ethical Behaviour in Leadership

Ethical behaviour is very important for leaders. When leaders act ethically, they set a
good example for everyone else. People look up to leaders and copy what they do. If a
leader is honest, employees will also be honest. If a leader cheats or lies, employees
may think it is okay to do the same. Ethical leaders also build trust. When people trust
their leader, they feel safe and are more willing to work hard. They do not waste time
worrying about being treated unfairly. Ethical behaviour also protects the organisation
from scandals and legal problems. Many companies have been destroyed because
leaders acted unethically. For example, Enron collapsed because its leaders lied about
money. This shows why ethical behaviour is not just nice to have - it is necessary for
survival. Research shows that ethical leadership is crucial for building trust, fostering a
positive organisational culture, motivating employees, and ensuring long-term success
(Alhaidan, 2024).
