1.1. Describe the recruitment method that you would use to recruit members.
To recruit members for this group, I would use purposeful sampling. Purposeful sampling
involves deliberately selecting participants who have direct experience with the issue being
addressed (Fouché & De Vos, 2011). In this case, parents and caregivers of children and
adolescents living with HIV, who have not disclosed the child’s HIV status, would be identified
through the local clinic. Recruitment can take place through personal invitations during clinic
visits, phone calls, or notices placed in the clinic. This method ensures that the group consists of
individuals who are relevant to the goal of the intervention and can benefit from participation.
1.2. Do you think the above group will be a task group? Motivate your answer.
Yes, the above group would be considered a task group. Task groups are formed to achieve a
specific goal, often within a limited timeframe, and are focused on problem-solving or skill
development (Hepworth et al., 2017). The purpose of this group is to equip parents and
