In South Africa, the Department of Basic Education (DBE) has emphasized the importance of embedding digital tools in curriculum delivery to promote learner engagement, improve access to information, and enhance the quality of teaching (DBE, 2020). Digital technologies not only prepare learners for participation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) but also provide teachers with flexible pedagogical strategies to address diverse learning needs (Mhlanga and Moloi, 2020). For this assignment, a lesson plan for Grade 7 Natural Sciences focusing on the topic of Photosynthesis will be developed. This topic is particularly suited for digital enhancement because it requires learners to visualize complex scientific processes that are often abstract when explained through traditional teaching methods. The use of digital tools will support interactive, learner-centred pedagogy that fosters critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills (Cilliers, 2021). The plan also aligns with the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement (CAPS), which encourages the use of appropriate resources, including technology, to support teaching and learning in the classroom (DBE, 2019).
