As part of the hiring process, candidates were required to undergo psychological assessments before being shortlisted for interviews. The purpose was to ensure that applicants possessed the right cognitive, technical, and behavioural attributes to succeed in a demanding and safety-critical work environment. According to him, the company emphasised that these assessments were essential because of the high-risk nature of mining work and the need for employees who could make accurate decisions under pressure (Moerdyk, 2017).
