PART A MEDIA ETHICS.

Question 1 The term “media ethics” refers to acceptable and
unacceptable behavior or conduct in media practice. Elaborate on the
above statement by doing the following:

1.1 Describe, in your own words, what you think ethics and media
ethics is about. Also elaborate on the importance of ethics and how
our daily behaviour is often determined by it? (5)

Ethics refers to the set of moral principles or values that guide human
behaviour in terms of what is right or wrong, acceptable or unacceptable.
It acts as a framework that helps individuals make responsible decisions
in both personal and professional life.

Media ethics, more specifically, relates to how these moral principles
are applied in media practice. It involves making responsible choices in
journalism, broadcasting, advertising, film, and digital platforms. For
instance, media ethics addresses issues such as truth-telling, fairness,
respect for privacy, avoidance of harm, and accountability to the public.

Importance of ethics:

 Ethics provides standards for distinguishing between acceptable
and unacceptable behaviour.
 In daily life, ethics influences how we interact with others,
showing respect, fairness, honesty, and integrity.
 Without ethics, society would lack order, mutual trust, and a
shared sense of justice.
