3. WHERE DO I FIT IN NOW? (200 words)

I used our given tool and found that it was not working properly. But it did show
that my per head income is about R7 000, and even so, my family and I are still
okay after all our expenses are settled, with some money left for emergencies. I
work as a school transport driver. In my daily work I see children who struggle
with things as basic as school uniforms, shoes, and even food. Many of them
depend on the school’s feeding scheme. This shows me that, compared to many, I
am privileged to be in the position that I am in.

It pains me to see children in that state, especially since many of their parents are
unemployed and rely on SASSA grants which are too small to cover all basic
needs. At times parents cannot even afford to pay me for transport, but I understand
because I see their struggles. Not long ago, I too was heavily in debt and could not
manage my finances properly. I had to make sacrifices and learn money
management to reach a point where I could save and still have something left after
expenses.

Today, I am grateful. My family has food, clothing, and security, and we can even
help others. For example, I sometimes transport children for free when I know their
parents cannot afford it. Many families do not have this privilege, especially after
the Covid-19 pandemic worsened poverty and unemployment. Having a source of
income is a blessing I do not take for granted. I have learned to appreciate the little
I have, and it brings me joy to know I can make a small difference in someone
else’s life.

4. AT THE END OF MY LIFE …… (300 words)

At the end of my life, I want to look back and know that I lived a life of meaning
and service.
