ASSIGNMENT 3 SEMESTER 2 2025
UNIQUE NO.
DUE DATE: 2025
, Safety Management III B
1. Explain how a corporate's image can be affected by accidents and injuries. (10)
A company’s image is one of its most valuable assets, as it represents the way the
public, customers, investors, and stakeholders perceive the organization. When
accidents or injuries occur within the workplace, the corporate image can be
significantly damaged in several ways:
Public Perception: News about workplace accidents often spreads quickly through
media and social platforms. If employees are injured due to unsafe practices, the
public may see the company as careless, negligent, or profit-driven at the expense
of worker safety.
Loss of Trust: Customers and clients expect companies to operate responsibly. A
major incident can erode trust, making stakeholders hesitant to continue business
with the organization.
Legal and Financial Repercussions: Lawsuits, fines, and penalties related to
workplace injuries can tarnish a company’s reputation, suggesting poor compliance
with regulations.
Impact on Employer Branding: Potential employees may hesitate to apply for jobs
if they associate the company with unsafe conditions, which harms recruitment and
talent retention.
Investor Confidence: Shareholders and investors may lose confidence in
management’s ability to run the business responsibly, leading to a decline in stock
value.
Community Relations: Accidents in industries that affect the environment or local
communities (e.g., chemical spills, construction accidents) can strain community
relations and damage the company’s social license to operate.
