Fundamentals in Nursing is a foundational course designed to equip nursi
students with the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to delive
safe and effective patient care.
1. Definition and Scope
Definition: Fundamentals in Nursing focuses on the basic principles and
procedures necessary to provide care to individuals across the lifespan.
Scope: Includes theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional valu
required for entry-level nursing practice.
2. Core Concepts
1. Holistic Patient Care- Nurses view patients as individuals with
physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Holistic care goe
beyond addressing symptoms to consider the person as a whole
, 2.The Nursing Process-is a systematic method for delivering
patient care. It consists of five steps: ( ADPIE)
1.Assessment: Collecting and analyzing patient data.
2.Diagnosis: Identifying health problems based on the assessme
3.Planning: Setting goals and determining interventions.
4.Implementation: Carrying out the planned interventions.
5.Evaluation: Assessing the outcomes and revising the plan as
needed.
, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention-helps individua
maintain or enhance their present health. It motivates people to
engage in healthy activities such as routine exercise and good
nutrition to reach more stable levels of health.
Three Levels of Prevention
1. Primary Prevention-is true prevention. Its goal is to
reduce the incidence of disease that focus on
maintaining or improving the general health of
individuals, families, and communities.
