ASSIGNMENT 1 SEMESTER 2 2025
UNIQUE NO.
DUE DATE: 12 AUGUST 2025
, Social Dimensions of Justice
1. Critical discussion (±100 words)
I disagree with the statement. Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else’s work,
ideas, or words as your own without proper acknowledgment, regardless of the source.
Whether copied from another student, a website, a textbook, or lecture notes, it is
equally serious because it breaches academic integrity. Academic dishonesty
undermines learning, devalues qualifications, and can lead to severe consequences,
including disciplinary action. The key issue is not where the information came from, but
whether it has been properly credited. Even unintentional plagiarism—through poor
referencing—remains unacceptable in academic work.
2. Practical steps to avoid plagiarism (±100 words)
To avoid plagiarism, I would keep detailed notes of all sources during my research. For
direct quotations, I would use quotation marks, cite the author, year, and page
number. For paraphrasing, I would rewrite the idea in my own words and still cite the
source, ensuring the meaning is preserved. For summarising, I would condense the
main points in my own words and reference the original source. I would also use
plagiarism detection software before submission. Finally, I would follow the referencing
style required (e.g., APA/Harvard) consistently throughout my assignment.
