Question 1.1: Identify and briefly explain two psychological factors that may have
influenced the employee's decision to leave the organisation. (6)
Two psychological factors that likely influenced the employee’s decision to leave
include:
1. Perceived Lack of Supervisory Support
o When employees feel that their supervisors are not providing guidance,
mentorship, or recognition, they experience a decline in psychological
well-being. Lack of support can result in decreased motivation, feelings of
neglect, and ultimately lead to turnover intentions (Eisenberger et al.,
2020).
o In this case, the employee reported feeling unsupported by management,
which negatively impacted her commitment.
2. Burnout and Job Stress
o Burnout occurs when employees experience emotional exhaustion,
depersonalisation, and reduced personal accomplishment due to
prolonged job stress (Maslach & Leiter, 2016).
