The Integrated Social Work Practice (ISWP) model includes seven interrelated stages
used to guide effective intervention. Applying these stages to the case of the distressed
mother and her son addicted to nyaope:

Stage 1: Engagement

I would first establish a working relationship with the mother through empathetic
listening and non-judgmental communication. I would ensure confidentiality and create
