I explored the psychological testing procedures used during a
recruitment process at a logistics company where a friend,
whom I will refer to as Sipho (not his real name), recently
applied for a managerial position. As part of the hiring process,
Sipho was required to complete a series of psychometric
assessments, including a cognitive ability test and a personality
inventory. I discussed the experience with him in detail, with his
consent, to understand the psychological assessment process
involved. The testing aimed to evaluate his suitability for the
leadership role, particularly assessing problem-solving skills,
decision-making under pressure, and interpersonal style.
