9. INTRODUCTION This assessment analyses the labour relations dynamics within
Ubuntu AutoTech South Africa (UASA) as it undergoes digital transformation.
The analysis draws from theoretical frameworks and legal standards covered in
Lessons 1 to 5 of LRM4801. It evaluates perspectives on labour relations, roles
of key actors, external environmental trends, legislative compliance, and strategic
policy recommendations.
10. LABOUR RELATIONS PERSPECTIVES
2.1 Comparison of Pluralist and Radical Perspectives The pluralist perspective views
the workplace as comprising multiple legitimate interest groups. Conflict is inherent and
should be managed through structured processes like collective bargaining. Unions are
considered essential participants in organisational dialogue.
In contrast, the radical perspective, rooted in Marxist theory, sees workplace conflict as
a result of capitalist exploitation. It views management as inherently self-interested and
labour as oppressed. Unions are vehicles for class struggle.
