Pluralist Perspective:
o Recognises conflict as inevitable.
o Trade unions are legitimate representatives.
o Conflict resolved through collective bargaining.
o UASA’s sidelining of unions would be seen as problematic.
Radical Perspective:
o Conflict is rooted in capitalist exploitation.
o Automation seen as a tool to increase profit at workers’ expense.
o Unilateralism in transformation = exploitation.
o Downplaying union input = class suppression.
What to do: Show how each theory would interpret UASA’s management style
(e.g. slogans like “One Team, One Future” may be seen as unitarist rhetoric masking
control).
