Unique Number:
, Step 1:
Your personal Earth Overshoot Day is as follows: 17 Sep
If everyone lived like you, we would need 1.7 Earths
By Consumption Category:
2.8 – Your Ecological Footprint (global hectares or gha)
3.8 – Your Carbon Footprint (CO2 emissions in tons per year)
46 – Your Carbon Footprint (% of your total Ecological Footprint)
Step 2: Write a comment about your footprint
Part A:
I am shocked to see that my footprint is much higher than anticipated. Our
house has a thatched roof and the main challenge is keeping warm while
trying to avoid big emissions.
I try to reduce my environmental footprint by doing the following:
- I drink water from the tap and do not buy bottled water for everyday
use. (luckily in our area we can still do that)
- I ensure that I unplug my phone charger when it is charged fully.
- I love to go to the library to read books and magazines.
- I receive my bills on email meaning that I do not contribute to forest
destruction.
- I stay close to work and do not have to drive far to get to work.
- In addition, I drive a car that is fuel efficient, and with a low CO2
Emission Level, my car is friendly to the environment. It is in fact the
perfect car for those who want to be seen, but don’t want a car that
literally costs the Earth. My car gets about 4.7 l/100 km with a CO2
Emission Level of 112 g/km.
Part B:
In assignment 06, I answered as follows
1. Do I really practice the values I am describing?
