This paper consists of Fourteen (13) pages.
There are FOUR (4) compulsory questions, counting 25 marks each. Answer all four
questions.
Instructions:
1. Your summative assessment must be in a structured format.
2. Convert and submit your electronic version assessment as a single PDF format document.
3. Arial 12 is the font of preference for electronic summative assessment.
4. You will be allowed to scan a written summative assessment into a single PDF file.
5. Please ensure that your summative assessment is saved as a single file, before uploading onto
myExams: https://cems.myexams.unisa.ac.za/.
6. It is wise to commence with a cover page, consisting of your initials, surname, ID number,
student number and module code (ECS3707).
7. All questions are compulsory.
8. Technical writing skills are recommened, follow the questions and sub-question numbering,
design and layout.
9. At Unisa, plagiarism is governed by the policy for copyright infringement and plagiarism.
Students, who contravene this policy, will be subjected to Unisa’s disciplinary code.
10. Ensure that you submit a declaration of honesty on myUnisa.
11. Ensure that your PDF document is NOT encrypted to a “secured” mode and that it is NOT
password protected as these files cannot be marked. No virus-infected file will be marked.

INSTRUCTIONS ON THE DAY OF ASSESSMENT
• Log onto: The Invigilator App. You need to be connected to the internet in order to log
in and scan the QR code.
• Scan the QR code above as soon as you have downloaded your question paper during the
15-minute download window.
• Please take note that you can only scan the QR code for a limited time and it should
therefore be scanned as soon as possible to start the invigilation.
• If you encounter difficulty with scanning of the QR code, you can also enter the QR
access code at the bottom of the QR code in order to start the assessment. Once the QR
code is scanned, you can place your smartphone next to you. The Invigilator App will
notify you when an action is required. Ensure that your media volume is turned up.
• You may access your myExams in the application if you only have one device by pressing
the ‘access LMS’ button.
• Please remember to keep your smartphone on charge for the duration of the assessment.
• Keep the Invigilator App open on your cell phone during the assessment. You are not
allowed to leave or minimise the application.
• When an action is required, a notification beep will be heard. Action the request.
• Ensure that you are connected to the internet in order to commence the examination as
well as at the end of the examination. No internet connection is needed during the
assessment.
• It is important to first upload your script to the myExams. Uploading of app data is not
