Response to Email from Rassie Bavuma (CFO, SkyHigh Airlines)
Subject: VBA Solution for Identifying Ticket Sales Revenue Discrepancies –
February 2025
Dear Mr. Bavuma,
Thank you for your email and for trusting me with this important task. I fully understand
the critical nature of the issue at hand, especially given the discrepancies raised by the
external audit. As requested, I have developed a comprehensive VBA (Visual Basic for
Applications) solution tailored to verify the accuracy of SkyHigh Airlines’ February 2025
ticket revenue records and to highlight inconsistencies for further investigation.
This response outlines my understanding of the problem, the design of the VBA tool, its
implementation, and how it directly addresses the audit concerns. I’ve also included
annotated VBA code and suggestions for future improvements.
Understanding the Business Problem
SkyHigh Airlines, operating domestic and regional flights from Johannesburg to Cape
Town, Durban, and Windhoek, categorizes ticket pricing into two brackets:
• Adult tickets: Full fare for passengers aged 12 and above.
• Child tickets: Discounted fare for passengers under 12.
Bookings are processed via a call centre and paid for through one of three methods:
• Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)
• Credit Card
• Cash at the kiosk on the day of the flight
The external audit identified potential discrepancies such as:
• Misclassified ticket types (e.g., child booked as adult)
