. 2.1 Adults learn differently form children. Explain adult learning in your own
words. (5)

Adult learning refers to how grown-ups gain new knowledge, skills, and attitudes. Unlike
children, adults bring life experience, responsibilities, and personal goals into the learning
process. They usually want to learn things that are practical, relevant to their work or life, and
that they can apply immediately.

Adults learn best when:

 They understand why they need to learn something.
 They can use their past experiences to make sense of new information.
 The learning is problem-based or focused on real-life situations.
 They are treated with respect and given some control over the learning process.
 The learning fits their goals, such as career development or personal growth.

Adult learning, often referred to as andragogy, is a distinct approach to education that recognizes
the unique characteristics and needs of adult learners, differentiating it from pedagogy (the art
and science of teaching children). In my own words, adult learning is about self-directed,
experience-driven, and practically-oriented education where adults take ownership of their
learning journey, connecting new knowledge to their existing experiences and applying it to
real-world problems.

Here's a breakdown of what that means:

 Self-Directed: Adults prefer to be in control of their learning. They want to know why
they need to learn something, what they will learn, and how it will benefit them. They are
often motivated by internal factors and seek to choose what and how they learn.
