,Indications for Hemodynamic Monitoring
Usually surround three nursing diagnoses:
1) Decreased cardiac output
2) Deficient fluid volume/excess fluid volume
3) Ineffective tissue perfusion
-Overall, depends on patient need clinically
-One of the obvious indications for hemodynamic
monitoring is decreased cardiac output.
Decreased cardiac output could be from:
-Dehydration
-Hemorrhage
-G. I. bleed
-Burns
-Surgery
-All types of shock (Septic, cardiogenic, neurogenic,
or anaphylactic) may require invasive
hemodynamic monitoring
, -Any deficit or loss of cardiac function (Acute MI,
cardiomyopathy, and congestive heart failure) may
require invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
Cardiac Output
-Defined as volume of blood ejected from
heart over 1 minute
-Determinants of C.O are: Heart rate and Stroke
volume
-C.O. = HR x SV
-Normal CO is 4-8 L/minute
