1 Stanley is out. Returns home to Stella to give her meat, then leaves again with Stella to go bowling. Blanche
arrives, greeted by Eunice and let into Stella’s house. Stella returns and they reunite and Blanche tells her
they “lost Belle Reve”. Stanley returns and greets Blanche, asking her questions. We find out Blanche used to
be married but he died young.

2 Stanley is suspicious as to the loss of the estate and tells Stella whilst looking through Blanche’s things.
Blanche comes out of the bathtub and asks Stanley for help with her dress- slight flirting. He asks Blanche for
the papers after Blanche sends her sister away, which she gives to him, also discovering poems from her late
husband. Stanley tells Blanche Stella is pregnant.

3 Stanley, Mitch and his friends are having a poker night, and Stella and Blanche return from their night out.
Blanche and Mitch flirt and Mitch puts up a paper lantern for her. Stanley gets annoyed at the girls as they are
distracting from poker night, smashing the radio Blanche turned on and hitting Stella. Stella leaves and the
guys take Stanley to the shower. He is remorseful and tries to find Stella to seek forgiveness. She emerges
from Eunice’s house and they reunite (sexually). Mitch and Balnche talk more and get to know each other.

4 Next morning. Stella relaxed but Blanche is shocked that Stella would stay with Stanley. She tells Stella she
should leave him, and claims an old beau millionaire Shep Huntleigh will help, but Stella does not want to
leave. Blanche criticised Stanley, who overhears her, before leaving and reentering. Stella greets him.

5 Blanche is writing a letter to Shep about their fabricated experiences over the summer. Steve and Eunice are
fighting upstairs and Steve hits her. Eunice leaves and threatens to call the police, but instead goes for a drink.
Stanley asks Blanche if she knows Shaw from Laurel (her hometown), who owned the disreputable Flamingo
Hotel. Blanche denies it but is shaken, and says people are gossiping about her in Laurel. Blanche has a date
with Mitch, whom she is maintaining proper etiquette and manners and has not told him her age. Stanley and
Stella leave to go out with Eunice and Steve, who have reunited. Blanche flirts with a Young Man who is
delivering a newspaper, kisses him, then he leaves. Mitch arrives with roses.

6 2a.m. Blanche and Mitch arrive back from the amusement park- they are quite awkward. Mitch kisses her
goodnight but she stops him from doing more. She invites him in for a nightcap and they pretend to be
Bohemians in Paris, and Mitch brags about his manliness and lifts Blanche until she insists he put her down.
She asks Mitch what Stanley thinks about her and she rants about Stanley. They bond over loneliness and
young love lost- Blanche’s husband was homosexual and committed suicide after Blanche said he “disgusts”
her. He comforts her.

7 Mid sept- Blanche's birthday. SHe bathes whilst Stella and Stanley argue. Stanley reveals Blanche has been
lying to them- Blanche lived at the Flamingo and was kicked out due to her scandalous reputation, her home
even declared off limits to local soldiers. She was fired as a teacher as she had an affair with the 17 year old
student. Stella refuses to believe him. Stanley also told Mitch, and bought a one way ticket for Blanche back to
Laurel.

8 Mitch doesn't show up for supper. Blanche reprimands Stanley's eating style and he smashes a plate, and
leaves. Stella cries and goes to comfort Stanley, whilst Blanche tries to call Mitch. They come back inside and
Stella lights Blanche’s candles. Stanley gives Blanche the ticket and she has a breakdown and runs to the
bathroom. Stella goes into labour and Stanley takes her to the hospital.

9 Later that night. Blanche drinks and hears the Varsouviana polka in her head. Mitch enters and Blanche hides
the drink, pretending to discover it and offers some to a cold Mitch. Mitch tells her he knows about what
happened in Laurel, she denies it then breaks down. She talks about her experiences and intimacies with
soldiers near Belle Reve. Mitch hugs her and Blanche insists he marries her, which he refuses. Mitch leaves.

10 Later that night. Blanche is drinking more and dressed up in her costume jewellery and fancy clothes. Stanley
enters, also drunk as the baby won’t come until the morning. Stanley asks Blanche why she’s dressed up,
changes into his silk pyjamas and has a beer. Blanche lies and says she is going to visitShep Huntleigh and
Mitch comes to her with roses and apologises. Stanley confronts her and mocks her appearance, then traps
