A1. Corporate Social Responsibility
The Mayo Clinic’s Code of Ethics has multiple sections that address their expectations of
ethical behavior. From the start there is a letter form the President where he discusses the value
the Mayo Clinic has on integrity and how their reputation for honesty and ethical behavior are
the priority in everything they do. The Mayo Clinic address Corporate Social Responsibilities in
multiple sections within their code of ethics. Their values are based on the acronym “RICH
TIES” which stands for Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Healing, Teamwork, Innovation,
Excellence and Stewardship. Multiple sections within the Code of Ethics cover areas of
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). As an example, the Environmental Stewardship section
addresses how everyone can take steps to being good stewards in multiple ways. One way would
be to conserve energy, tuning off lights or turning off noncritical equipment. Another way would
be to reduce waste, print only what is necessary, use a reusable water bottle and recycle as much
as possible. A second area the code of ethics address CSR is within the Embracing Differences
section. This section addresses the inclusion of all staff and patient backgrounds, cultures, and
beliefs. The Mayo Clinic offers opportunities to a diverse community and value the similarities
and differences between their employees. The goal is to foster mutual respect in both work and
, personal lives of al employees. One major area the code of ethics speaks to is the expectation that
everyone speak up if unethical behavior is observed. Stating that compliance is everyone’s
responsibility.
