A Buffer is a liquid that can hinder to change in the pH when added to an
Acid or a Base.
OR
A Buffer is designed to maintain a constant pH when a small amount of it is
added to a strong Acid or a strong Base.
Buffer solution:
A Buffer solution resists to change in pH. It contains either:
1) Weak Acid and its Soluble Ionic Salt
2) Weak Base and its Soluble Ionic Salt.
3) Weak Acid and Its Conjugated Base.
4) Weak Base and its Conjugated Acid.
Types of Buffers:
There are two types of Buffers. They include:
1) Acidic Buffer
2) Basic Buffer
Acidic Buffers:
An Acidic Buffer solution either contains:
1) Weak Acid and Its Soluble Ionic Salt
2) Weak Acid and Its Conjugated Base.
An Acidic buffer has a pH below 7
