, Questionnaire scenario:
This psychological questionnaire has been designed for use in social workers'
recruitment and evaluation process in trauma support centres. Given the emotionally
demanding nature of trauma work, it is crucial to assess candidates' interpersonal
coping styles and their ability to find meaning and purpose in adversity.
Theoretical Foundations:
The first five items are based on Karen Horney’s theory of neurotic trends,
specifically her model of interpersonal styles: moving toward, moving against,
and moving away from others.
The last five items are based on Victor Frankl’s theory of self-transcendence and
will to meaning, central to human flourishing under challenging conditions.
Purpose of the Questionnaire: The goal is to identify how candidates cope with
interpersonal stress (e.g., through compliance, aggression, or withdrawal) and whether
they can sustain themselves psychologically through a strong sense of meaning and
purpose, which are both crucial traits for successful trauma support work.
