Plan your answers before you write them in their
final form. Do not answer all the questions. Only
the first five questions answered will be marked.
Based on past experience, some students leave out
questions and then expect the lecturers to
reassemble their assignments. This is a practically
impossible task, given the number of assignments
that the lecturers receive. Therefore, please make
sure that you answer all the questions and submit
them in a single document.
You MUST submit your assignment online. Do not
send your assignment to the lecturers by post or e-
mail.
, Be sure to answer the number of questions required,
not all the questions. You will be disadvantaged if
you ignore this instruction.
At the honours level, you should preferably submit
a typed or word-processed assignment. Please make
every effort to do so. However, a handwritten
assignment will be accepted.
General guidelines that apply to Assignment 03
⬧ Once you have decided which five questions (questions 1(a) and 1(b)
are compulsory) you are going to answer, plan the answers carefully.
⬧
Make sure that you provide each essay with a suitable introduction
and conclusion.
⬧
Include suitable headings and subheadings in the body of an essay
where relevant.
⬧ Make sure that you do not deviate from the themes under discussion
in the essays (i.e., do not include irrelevant facts and/or opinions).
⬧ Make sure that you present facts chronologically where appropriate.
⬧ Ensure that the sentences and the paragraphs in an essay follow one
another logically, in other words, the essay should constitute a tightly
integrated whole; it should not consist of loose, sweeping statements.
⬧ Plagiarism is a cardinal sin. Do not copy another student's work. You
may work on the assignment in a study group, but you are expected to
submit your own, unique assignment.
