FIN1001: Principles of Finance (3 semester
credits)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamental principles of finance. Specifically, students
will learn about the operating environment of the firm, financial statements, and financial ratios. Students will
also learn about the time value of money, the characteristics of market instruments, the process of capital
budgeting, and elements of working capital management.

PREREQUISITES: No prerequisites
LENGTH OF COURSE: This is a self-paced course. Students may use as much or as little time as needed to
complete the course.
ACE CREDIT® RECOMMENDATION: In the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category, 3
semester hours in Principles of Business Finance (6/23).
GRADING: This is a pass/fail course. Students must complete 15 Challenges (formative assessments) and 5
Milestones (summative assessments) with an overall score of 70% or better.
