TPF2601
ASSIGNMENT 4 2026
DUE: 31 AUGUST 2026 (MEMO)
, TPF2601/ASSESSMENT 4/0/2026
Teaching Practice 1
Assessments 4/0/2026
SECTION A: PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS (10 marks)
ACTIVITY 1: PROFESSIONAL TEACHING STANDARDS IN PRACTICE
Three professional teaching standards I observed:
1. Knowledge of the curriculum and learners
2. Creating inclusive and safe learning environments
3. Planning and implementing effective teaching strategies
Explanation of how one standard was demonstrated:
I choose Creating inclusive and safe learning environments.
My mentor teacher, Mrs. Jacobs, demonstrated this by establishing a welcoming
atmosphere from the first day. At the start of each lesson, she reminded learners of the
classroom rules that we had co-constructed “we listen when others speak”, “we help
each other”. She used a “calm corner” with soft cushions and a few sensory toys; when
a learner became frustrated during a mathematics activity, she guided him to the calm
corner and later had a quiet conversation with him. This showed me that safety is not
only physical but also emotional, learners knew they could regulate their feelings
without being punished.
