Analyse the information in the class summary. What are your learners’ strengths and weaknesses?
Note: Cover all learners. (max. 100 words)
Students have different strengths and weaknesses, and the class summary reflects that. Ana is good at reading and writing
but should work on listening and speaking, whereas Bilal can work more on speaking although overall he has good results.
Chen excels in reading but needs improvement in listening and speaking. Delphine and Francesca need total skills
improvement. For these two areas, the average band score of 5.8 (writing) and 5.75 (listening and speaking) indicates the
weakest areas. Sharpening these skills is what students need to enhance their overall language proficiency as well as get
the desired band scores in the IELTS.
Which two skills have you chosen to teach in this lesson? Why?
Note: State which part of the exam you will focus on for each skill, e.g., Speaking Part 1. (minimum 150 words)
For this lesson, I’ve chosen to focus on speaking and listening, as these are the two areas where most students are
currently struggling. Both skills are essential for effective communication, whether in academic settings or in everyday life.
In speaking, the emphasis will be on Part 2, where students are required to deliver a well-structured and fluent response to
a given topic for about 2 minutes, without interruption. This practice will concentrate on improving pronunciation, intonation,
and vocabulary usage, to help students organize their thoughts efficiently within the time limit and deliver engaging
speeches.
For listening, the focus will be on Section 4, which features a lecture on an academic or work-related topic. In this lesson,

,the lecture will cover a work-related subject, in line with the format of the IELTS Listening section. Section 4 is known for
being the most challenging part of the listening test, requiring students to answer two sets of questions after hearing the
recording once. This typically includes filling out a form and responding to five multiple-choice questions. Practicing this
section is vital as it exposes students to different accents and familiarizes them with various question types.
By addressing these specific areas and tailoring the lesson to meet the needs of the class, the objective is to build
confidence and proficiency in both speaking and listening. This approach aims to provide a strong foundation for success
in the IELTS exam and beyond. Through focused practice, students will be better prepared to overcome challenges,
enhancing their overall language skills. Since the IELTS final score is based on a combination of band scores across all
four skills, balancing performance in each area is key. This strategic focus maximizes the chances of success in the IELTS
exam and contributes to well-rounded language proficiency.
Which lesson topic have you chosen? Why? (minimum 100 words)
Identifying the interest of the students and the relevance of the content of the lesson, I chose the theme of morale: the
theme of work. The reason for this is that three of the six students have stated that they would like to work in countries
where English is spoken. For such students, the primary reason for taking the IELTS exam is to obtain job opportunities
abroad. Not only is this theme widely applicable if you plan on working in English-speaking countries, but it is also the case
if you are studying or immigrating. In each, work is key, whether it’s moving up in a chosen field or supporting themselves
while residing in a foreign country. Given that "work" is the common denominator of the disparate aspirations in the class,
the lesson is virtually guaranteed to resonate with the students beyond the confines of the IELTS exam. The target
listening is directly related to this theme and covers practical workplace topics like conflict management, while the context
of the material is a great environment for learning. The lesson focuses on work-related language and skills, especially for
professional communication, which aims to improve practical language skills. Such a method not only suits students'
present needs but also prepares students with vital tools for success in their careers. This introduction to the work theme
provides a cohesive, tailored model that fits the various needs of the students, facilitating meaningful and fun learning
