Fungal Infections

Known as mycoses

Divided into various infection sites

Superficial mycoses

Cutaneous mycoses

Caused by fungal invasion in keratin

Most important types are dermatophytes: Epidermophyton,
Microsporum, Trichophyton

Subcutaneous mycoses

Systemic (deep) mycoses

Immunocompromised infections are ‘Opportunistic mycoses’
