When we consider the French Resistance, we often think its members spent their time
committing spectacular acts. Although this impression is true to some extent, in reality,
life for these people was less exciting. However, it was certainly dangerous. For
example, a young person who had simply written a slogan on a wall was always
severely punished. To make the movement more effective, it was necessary to
communicate with the Allies. If every group had had good radio equipment, they would
have been able to coordinate their efforts more successfully. Radio operators ran the
greatest risk. To avoid being captured, they had constantly to move around.
