o Aim – development and growth of the region, improve quality of life, conserve
natural resources and improve safety.
o Vision – a common future within a regional community to ensure economic
well-being, improvement of standard of living and quality of life, freedom and
peace for people of Southern Africa
o Mission – to promote sustainable and fair economic growth and social
economical development through good standards in an economy so that
regions emerge to become effective players in world economy.
o Function/goal – achieve development, peace, security, economic growth,
raise standard of living for people of Southern Africa

Role:
Market attractions in SADC countries and improve SACD historical and cultural
heritage.
Main objectives:
o Increase the volume of inbound tourism to and within a region
o Encourage business to invest in tourism in the region
o Market with national tourist organisations and the private sector.
o Create awareness for tourism development in the region.
