Freight Forwarder - ANSWEROur freight forwarder is CDS, handles freight bookings
from the vendor, consolidates products overseas, and works with Ocean & Air
carriers to coordinate shipping execution
Transloader - ANSWER3rd party warehouse that picks up containers from the port
and loads product onto trailers (Amazon's preferred carriers) that are destined for our
FC's
SLA - ANSWERExpectation that loaded equipment is pulled from trans-loader facility
within 24 hours of tender date
Tender - ANSWERNotification from transloader to carrier that a shipment has been
preloaded and is ready for pickup at facility (these shipment are not tendered in
Amazon system, limited visibility)
CDS - ANSWERCentury Distribution Systems. CDS' web-based tool and used for
booking and tracking freight
OTR - ANSWEROver the Road traditional 53' trailers
IMDL - ANSWERIntermodal (via railroad on chassis/imdl containers)
Trailer Pool - ANSWERCurrent equipment facility has onsite (this includes
equipment that is loading/loaded/empty)
BOL - ANSWERBill of Lading, document issued by vendor to the carrier that serves
as a receipt of delivery to the carrier and details the contents, origin, and destination
of the shipment
ISA - ANSWERInbound Shipment Appointment, unique ID allocating dock space and
time at an FC to a shipment
PIT - ANSWERPowered Industrial Truck, specialized forklift
POD - ANSWERProof of Delivery, documentation of the specifics of a shipment that
may be used as proof of receipt, such as signed BOL
PO - ANSWERPurchase Order, contract with a vendor that represents an order for
products from the vendor
Clamp - ANSWERUsed with floor loaded freight
TDR - ANSWERTrailer Dock & Release, process the FC completes before allowing
any FC associates into the trailer, includes verifying that the landing gear is stable
and ensuring the dock plate can be extended from the FC dock door into the trailer
to allow manual or powered (PIT) unloading
