Artist Statement

VR Film

In Tilt Brush I drew a red apple with a green worm going through it and sticking out of
both ends, and a bunch of other green worms inside it. I was trying to capture an image of worms
being stuck inside of an apple trying to escape. I left the back of the apple open not only so
people could see inside of it, but to show that not everyone wants to take, or recognizes the easy
way out. A person feeling trapped is a constantly used narrative in art and has been portrayed in
many ways over the years, however, I have never seen it portrayed in VR and I thought using
worms and an apple was a more lighthearted way to project that.

I am a person who thoroughly enjoys doing art such as drawing and painting and even

able to finish my drawing. And although I am still not thrilled with the overall quality of the art, I
am content with my efforts at trying something new.

I did take into consideration that the art would be visual from all angles, 360 degrees. I
drew my apple and worms with this in mind, making them not visible from the front or sides, but
from the back so you can see what is happening inside. I placed worms that seemed to be
