5S Visual Management: - ANSWER involves five stages of visual
management to reduce distractions, clutter, and potentially hazardous situations
on the production floor. The 5 stages are: Sort which gets rid of trash and
clutter, Set which ensures that every tool has its own place, Shine which ensures
that the workplace is clean and well maintained, Standardize which makes the
production process consistent, and finally Sustain which allows for the process
that was refined by the four previous stages to remain in working condition.

Continuous Improvement: - ANSWER The act of making incremental, regular
improvements and upgrades to a process or product in the search for excellence.

Defect - ANSWER A good's or service's non-fulfilment of an intended
requirement or reasonable expectation for use, including safety considerations.

External Customer: - ANSWER A person or organization that receives a good,
service, or information but is not part of the organization supplying it.

Internal Customer: - ANSWER The recipient (person or department) of
another person's or department's output (good, service, or information) within
an organization.

Kaizen: - ANSWER The Japanese term for improvement, which means
continuing improvement involving everyone—managers and workers. In
manufacturing, it relates to finding and eliminating waste in machinery, labor,
or production methods.

Kanban - ANSWER A Japanese word loosely translated to mean card,
billboard, or sign, but other signaling devices such as computer software have
also been used. A system or method of just-in-time production that uses
standard containers or lot sizes with signs and signals to determine when to
replenish supplies. It is a pull system in which work centers signal that they
wish to withdraw parts from feeding operations or suppliers. It simplifies how
inventory is tracked and managed by alerting staff when they need to order
materials. This allows companies to better match production with demand. The
goal is to maintain a rapid manufacturing pace while lowering the cost of
maintaining inventory.
