‭Sex Before and Outside of Marriage‬

‭ ome Christians believe that fornication (the sexual act between unmarried‬
S
‭people) is wrong:‬
‭●‬ ‭There should be no sex before marriage because St. Paul taught the body is‬
‭a Temple for the soul – and by indulging in casual sex you are damaging‬

‭●‬ ‭Some Catholics believe that God made sex for married love and it should‬
‭only happen to make children‬
‭●‬ ‭Lust is one of the 7 deadly sins and people should restrain themselves. St.‬
‭Paul said if you cannot restrain your lustful thoughts you should get‬
‭married – this is one of the purposes of marriage‬‭‘if they do not have‬
‭self-control, let them get married. For it is better to marry than to burn with‬
‭sexual desire’‬

‭Other Christians believe that sex before marriage is acceptable because:‬
‭●‬ ‭It’s a valid expression of love for each other‬
‭●‬ ‭If it’s a consensual act between two single adults‬

‭In Islam sex before marriage and out of marriage are unacceptable:‬
‭●‬ ‭In Arabic we call both fornication and adultery zinaa. Zinaa, in Arabic,‬
‭means immorality. This is a major sin in Islam‬

‭In Christianity sex outside of marriage is a sin and unacceptable:‬
‭●‬ ‭It breaks the 7th commandment‬‭‘you shall not commit‬‭adultery’‬

‭Purpose and Nature of Marriage‬

‭Some Christians believe that:‬
‭●‬ ‭Marriage was a gift from God during the creation‬
‭●‬ ‭‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife‬
‭and they become one flesh’‬
‭●‬ ‭Marriage is a sacrament, a lifelong union blessed by God‬‭‘to love and‬‭to‬
‭cherish, till death us do part’‬
‭●‬ ‭Marriage is to provide a stable, secure environment for family life and‬
‭raising children‬
